Healing…

When I feel out of sorts …sketching is the only thing that makes sense.

Last week I lost a loved one….mama (my mum/in-law) who was an absolute gem. Still trying to make sense of life…and all that circle of life s**t that I keep hearing…seemingly to console me doesn’t help much. I know we all die sometime but I miss mama and pointing out the obvious does not diminish my loss.

Sketching her has helped…Itotally get why art Therapy heals.

Rest in peace darling mama.

Resilient body of work (in progress)

Working on set of paintings…love the thread of association running through this set…resilience in the face of adversity…or so it seems at the moment.

Mixed media (work in progress-ish)… once mounted on canvas that should be it!!! It’s minimalist but that’s it. Titled Autumn or rather ‘fall’. Still undecided.

Mixed media on canvas board titled ‘come what may’…kinda where I am at the moment…finding inner strength in the face of life!

Work in progress…. (mixed media)

…untitled at the moment but about the beauty in stillness. I’m learning from flowers that I have basically put through the wringer!…and they are still standing.

Seriously curious to see what this looks like when dry and cured.

Bookmarks XIV

I’m really chuffed I participated in the 2016 Bookmark XIV project curated by Sarah Bodman.  Making a hundred bookmarks and receiving a set of bookmarks made by other artists has just been brilliant!! I will do it all over again in a. beat!

The bookmarks were sent to 10 venues and have been on display since the 23rd September 2016! The venues will display the bookmarks till February 2017!  In Iceland, the bookmarks will be on tour to about 40 locations!

Bookmark Project XIV

I received my set of bookmarks today!! About 33 artists have participated in the project. There are a wide range of bookmarks…lasercut, stitched, linocut, etched, painted…absolutely gorgeous bookmarks. Really looking forward to when project goes live in September!

I am already looking forward to next Bookmark project …was so much fun participating in this one.

I’m going to look out for some more projects. Would be fun to make trading cards! Bookmarks rock! Even love the stamped packaging…
